GPS Golf Balls and Locusts
Posted on 27. Oct, 2005 by Joanna in News
As GPS technology improves and expands, some now believe we will soon be able to integrate it into the sports we know and love. According to GPS Industries, soon we will be able to tell the exact trajectory of a golf ball, the speed of a football kick and arguments over whether balls are ‘in’ or ‘out’ will be a thing of the past.
Soon golfers will be able to see exactly where their ball is, the distance to the next hole and where those pesky bunkers and ponds are. Other ideas for uses of GPS came from the World Think Tank recent discussion. They came up with plans like using GPS to track locust swarms, although who would pay for the development of such a tiny device was not discussed!
The point is, GPS technology is progressing so quickly that soon we’ll forget what life was like before it. If any of you know of any other bizarre uses for GPS tracking let us know…
