Have I found a treat for you? The Mio 268 was a good, affordable GPS system, but its successor the 268+ just blew it out of the water. Complete with UK and Europe maps, an MP3 player and SiRFStarIII chipset, there are going to be a lot of these in Santa’s sack this year.

Mio have always focused on their products being portable and easy to use, and the 268+ is no different. It’s light enough for me to carry when I’m walking, which is important as I prefer to look more like a tech than a tourist when I’m lost! Another key feature is that the maps of UK and Europe (major roads) are included on an SD card so it’s really easy to set up. Full European maps are included on a DVD and can be transferred onto your Mio easily.
With the SiRFStarIII (see TomTom’s New Toy for a quick explanation) chipset, the 268+ gets good reception and is accurate to within a few metres. On top of a great receiver, and detailed mapping software, the 268+ also has an MP3 player. Mio were the first to include MP3 players in their GPS systems so we have them to thank for the new wave of multimedia navigation devices. You can carry more of your music with you without the hassle of changing CDs, and even use it outside of the car.
Overall, the Mio 268+ is great value for money for having so many features. If anyone has one, or has an opinion, let me know.
