The new Palm Treo…will people like it?

So the Palm Treo 700w…On paper, the best thing since the Treo 650– but is it? Treo is the most popular model in the US, smartphones are the fastest growing sector mobile technology, and now that it will be the company’s first Window’s Mobile based product, it sounds like a winner. Palm are still hanging onto their own operating system and so are now going to be releasing a mixture of Windows and Palm OS Smartphones over the next year.

So, while the Treo 700w should help Palm break into Microsoft-centric enterprises, as PDA Blast puts it. Since it is the more popular operating systems, it should draw people to Palm who have been put off before by compatibility issues. However, those who adore their old Treo and are looking for a simple upgrade, might be disappointed by the change. Many of their old applications won’t work on the 700w.
Overall though, the reviews of the 700w have been promising, and if you’re going to spend the money upgrading then presumably you’d take a look at the differences between the new smartphone and your old one. As soon as I can get my hands on the new model I’ll give you a proper review…but for now you’ll have to make do with Stateside opinions.
If anyone has one of the latest models and would like to write a review, post and let me know.
