A week ago HP “accidently leaked” information on the 6900 series of iPAQs, but now they’ve issued a press release with the official details of the HP iPAQ 6900 Mobile Messenger, and a pretty image to tempt us. The main feature they’re plugging is the new push-email functionality. This allows you to instantly receive emails wirelessly, with a choice of high speed wireless technologies including wireless voice, high-speed GPRS/EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for Global Evolution) data networking, Wi-Fi, GPS technology and Bluetooth connectivity.

Built primarily for business professionals, the 6900 features enhanced device and data protection, as well as upgrades to the 6500 line such as the Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system which “creates an improved Outlook Mobile experience”, or so they say! The most impressive thing for me is that in a world where mobiles, PDAs and GPS systems are becoming all but indispensible, this sleek little number combines them into one easy to carry device.
Unlike other all-in-one units, the hw6900 has TomTom GPS software built in, so you can start navigating straight away. Other features worth a mention include:
- Persistent storage feature to prevent the loss of data even if the battery is removed or drained
- Microsoft Messaging and Security Feature Pack
- Integrated QWERTY keyboard
- Built-in1.3 mega-pixel HP Photosmart camera
As soon as I get my hands on one I’ll let you know if it’s worth the hype that this new iPAQ is getting across the internet, but considering how well the 6510 and 6515 have sold, it looks like HP has got another winner.
