London to be the next Wi-Fi city

The Cloud (major Wi-Fi network operator) is partnering with the City of London Corporation to install and manage a Wi-Fi infastructure over the capital’s financial district. Last month the Cloud announced a partnership with BT to produce Wi-Fi phone boxes, and this service is expected to be live within the next few months.
If all goes well the entire metropolis will be covered within the year, allowing access to the high speed internet connection throughout the city. The wireless service will be available through lamp posts, street signs and other existing fixtures. Any service provider will be able to use the service. With 8 other British cities following in London’s footsteps, Britain will be a haven for PDAs and wireless devices before you can say Wi-Fi.
