Mio A701 coming to show us the way

Posted on 22. Feb, 2006 by Joanna in Mio, News, PDA & Pocket PC, Sat-nav & GPS, Smartphones

Now all the information I have managed to gleen about this new product has been via google translated pages…so don’t blame me if there’s some nonsense in amongst this information! The Mitac Mio A701 is a Pocket PC with integrated Phone and GPS receiver, so a big upgrade from the Mio A201. It should serve every mobile office need you could possibly think of, alongside the ability to navigate your way around the globe single-handed.

Despite being big in functionality, it’s still ‘light and indeed pleasant small’ (thank you Google). It apparently runs on Windows Mobile 5.0, and the GPS receiver is the powerful SiRFStar III. It has an SDIO/MMC slot for expansi0n of memory and so on, and that’s all the spec that I can find out; alongside this photograph:

Due for release in Europe late this March, it should be sold with and without Mio Map V2 software. I’ll let you know when I find out more
