I normally like to spend my weekends between my bed, any bar that’ll serve me, and my bed, but this weekend I was dragged around every village on the outskirts of Glasgow on a major two day house-hunting extravaganza with my mother, brother and sister-in-law….ooohhh the excitement I hear you cry. But, I did take the TomTom GO 300 (with speed camera database) with me and everyone was glad that I did. We managed to navigate to around 10 house viewings in 2 days across six villages, and only got lost once when the GO navigated us down a street that had recently been pedestrianised. Apart from that small slip up, the maps where incredibly up to date, steering us through rows of identical houses in newly built developments without fail.

Another advantage was the installed speed camera database. It gave an advanced warning by what can only be described as a “honk” (which scared the living daylights out of my sister-in-law – sorry Mhairi) on every speed camera we passed, even when it was on the opposite side of the road. I’ve never been a fan of these databases, as in my mind they just give people who drive like fools a chance to get off from a well-deserved fine, but to be honest, when driving through towns I had never been to before, they warned me of ‘blackspots’, and forced me to keep a closer eye on my speed – so now I shall forever sing its praises!
So armed with nothing more than street names and house numbers we managed to find every house and arrived unerringly on time for every viewing, so the TomTom GO 300 is the hero of an arduous weekend and my new recommendation for an all-in-one GPS System
