Another ridiculously practical use for GPS…
The Royal Mail have announced a same-day delivery service which will allow customers to track their items in real-time using GPS. Customers can track deliveries online and see the exact location of the post van and the speed it’s travelling at, and are then send an email receipt within 10 seconds of an item being delivered!
Big names to sign up to the systme include T-Mobile and BT so far. Brent Foster of T-Mobile commented: “This is a quantum leap for Royal Mail in their Sameday delivery service. We look forward to using it as it will add so much to our customer experience.”
Full details of the service are in press releases on the Royal Mail’s website, but as soon as the service kicks in and more is known I’ll be sure to write and let you know. So have you come across any more “everyday” uses of GPS technology? Post a comment and let me know…
