HP claim that they have created the world’s smallest wireless data chip. It can fit 4MB of memory and an antenna even though it’s only 2mm or 4mm square, the Register hopes that future versions will no doubt have much larger capacities. HP plan to use it in anything from mobile phones and PDAs to PCs, where it can write data at 10Mbps. Other cool possibilities include embedding it into hospital wrist bands where it could hold the patient’s entire medical history, or to make anti-counterfeit security passes.
What do we want it for though? For tiny mobile phones we can store our entire music collection on. For itty-bitty PDAs that can hold more than our home PCs….ah well, maybe when they’re finished using it for life-saving and crime-fighting techniques they’ll think of little ol’ gadget lovers like us….
