Sorry for the lack of posts over the last few days, but poor Jill has been sicky-bad - she’s back with a vengeance though, with 3 pieces of fresh, juicy gossip for your delectation. First off, a quote from i-mate CEO, Jim Morrison. Speaking at a conference in Boston, he mentioned that the JAQ was ugly “by design” following a request from customers for a high-spec mobile device that people won’t steal - hence the unpretty design.
He went on to say that the company’s contract with HTC is not up yet, acording to the Unwired. However, i-mate are moving away from selling rebranded devices, and are seeking to market exclusive designs/devices. In the same breath, Jim Morrison announced the company’s plans to launch around 15 devices during the next year, mostly PDAs with integrated phones, but with a few Windows Mobile smartphones on the horizon too. The last gossip from the PDA king was that i-mate are going to break their devices down into 3 categories; ‘Ultimate’ (super high-end), ‘Stealth’ (for corporates) and ‘Light’ (for end-users).
