Solar flares will only affect those who require extremely accurate GPS readings, like surveyors:
“High levels of magnetic-field activity (a magnetic storm) on December 14, 2006 [in Australia], degraded the accuracy of some GPS positions, caused disruptions to magnetic surveying operations and induced anomalous electrical currents in satellite circuits, power lines and pipelines.”
End-users who use GPS for help while driving aren’t likely to even notice a difference should a solar flare event occur. Yay!
