From tomorrow, those caught using handheld mobile phones while driving will get three points on their licence and have to pay a £60 fine. Drivers of buses, coaches or goods vehicles could be fined up to £2,500.
Research shows that if you are using a mobile phone while driving you are four times more likely to crash.
Since the law’s been in place since 2003, I think stepping up on enforcement is a good move. I’ve seen too many people spending more time deeply involved in conversation than driving safely. If you must use your mobile, get a handsfree carkit.
