HP? From PDA to UMPC?

Some speculation that HP might move into the UMPC market — although they have, officially, currently ruled it out. They cite the high cost of the devices as the reason:

Bradley considers the biggest hindrance is cost as most of the devices are pretty steep on the wallet. “The challenge is to produce inexpensive devices and when the time is right, HP will also look at offering a solution in that space,” he said.

To me, that means they’re working on it, but haven’t found their magic formula yet.

I’m just adding to the hype. If HP do move into the UMPC space — given their reputation with PDAs — it could be very interesting indeed.
