TomTom announces the new TomTom Go 520 and 720 models, sporting a new extra wide 4.3 inch touchscreen, and a slimmer, more lightweight design. These latest releases also ship with TomTom’s new Mapshare software, which they claim will help to minimise those occasions where your mapping software decides on, shall we say, a less than optimal route (such as a car park or dirt track).  Thankfully then, suggestions by your sat nav to perfrom a U-turn on a busy dual carriageway look to be a thing of the past.

TomTom Go 520This revolutionary new mapping software allows users to instantly update their own maps, which is useful in cases where the mapping software fails to provide a useful route. Drivers can input details specific to their own routes, allowing for dynamic improvement and update as necessary. Furthermore, it is now possible for members of TomTom’s satellite navigation community, which has over 10 million members, to share improvements and updates made via Map Share, thus ensuring the most up to date and efficient maps, even for the most obscure local routes.

A host of other improvements have also been made to the new TomTom Go range, including: a new and improved help menu; improved speech recognition; enhanced hands free kit; new audio options (including a built in FM transmitter) plus lots more!

The TomTom Go 720 comes pre-installed with up to date maps of Western Europe, whilst the Go 520 features maps of your local region.
