If your TomTom GPS is lacking in essential Points of interest (POIs) then you could be missing out on one of the best features of your GPS. POIs include everyday essential places you might want to navigate to such as petrol stations, supermarkets, car parks, airports, hotels, restaurants, plus a host of other potential locations of interest. POIs can prove invaluable in a new town or city, allowing you to find these necessary destinations simply by tapping your screen. Furthermore, by activating POIs on your maps, you can see, in real-time, nearby relevant POIs relative to your map position.
PocketGPSworld have just launched a new dynamic POI database system, with over 100,000 POI downloads for free. Similar to their interactive speed camera database, the POI community offers a comprehensive selection of POIs, and encourages members to upload their own POIs to the database to allow the database to grow.
Furthermore, owners of devices using TomTom Navigator can subscribe to the free GPS POI-Sync Service, which allows users to download and sync POIs whilst connected to the internet.
For the PocketGPSworld POIs database, simply head over to PocketGPSworld, register for free and download the files.
