HTC Touch - the iPhone Alternative

Posted by Derek  Published in HTC

HTC Touch

If you are starting to get tired of all the hype surrounding the imminent release of the new iPhone, you may be wondering if there is an alternative to Apple’s offering. Surprisingly, there is – the HTC Touch – which has been knocking around for at least a few months now. With a wide array of features packed into a sleek and stylish form factor, as well as the mobile functionality consumers have come to expect from their devices, HTC now delivers an exciting new way to interact with your mobile device in the form of TouchFLO, the new touch screen technology developed by HTC.

Rivalling even the iPhone in style and function, users can now control touch screen devices with the sweep of a finger. In fact, the technology is so advanced that it can distinguish between finger and stylus input and respond appropriately. According to sources at HTC, this technology ushers in a new era for interacting with your mobile device, and will help to eliminate some of the issues which arise with accessing increasingly feature packed mobile devices.

The HTC Touch is the first device to feature the new TouchFlo technology through Touch Cube, a unique 3 dimensional interface for you to pan and scroll with ease through your software packages. By swiping a finger right or left across the display, users are given efficient access to the features most commonly used.

A great device, the HTC Touch is a fantastic alternative to the iPhone, and well worth a look!

Posted by Derek  Published in HTC, News, PDA

HTC Kaiser

HTC have finally released the much anticipated HTC TyTN II (aka HTC 4550 or HTC Kaiser). It seems that the during the development of this unit, HTC were determined to pack in every feature developed to date, bar none, and have come up trumps with this amazing device.

Do you want full PDA functionality with the complete Windows Mobile® 6 Professional suite? You’ve got it. How about a fully connected Quad band mobile phone sporting Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi, 3.5G HSDPA connectivity delivering file download speeds up to nine times faster than 3G. Yup! Did you need a 3 megapixel CMOS camera with autofocus capability? It has that too. And if you were worried about losing your way on holiday, or for that important business meeting, the Kaiser also has a fully integrated GPS receiver, plus a taster version of TomTom navigator (which includes the TomTom software, but requires that you purchase the maps for your region).

A Touchy Subject? Apple iPhone Vs Market Leading Rival HTC.

Posted by Derek  Published in HTC, News

HTC Touch VS Apple iPhone

After much anticipation, Apple have finally launched the iPhone in the US, a move many believe will revolutionise the mobile phone industry in the same way the mp3 industry was transformed by the release of the iPod in 2001. The iPhone combines the functionality of a mobile phone, with multi-media functions of an internet browser, mobile phone, and an internet browser – all controlled exclusively via a touch screen.

Consumers of this highly sought after gizmo will, of course, be treated to the master class in design we have come to expect from Apple. Featuring nothing more than a large glass touchscreen with a single main button on the front panel, and a brushed aluminium finish on the rear, the iPhone promises to be a visual delight as well as a joy to use.

Finally, some sense

Posted by Andrea  Published in HTC, News

HTC boss Peter Chou has lauded Apple for its new iPhone, calling it eye-catching and innovative. But he has no plans to take HTC in the same direction.

“We need to differentiate ourselves. We will not be successful if we are a copy cat,” he said.

Thank goodness! I wouldn’t want one of my favourite mobile handset makers to start creating me-too products. In my opinion, HTC make excellent (and probably slightly underestimated) smartphones.

Rumour: HTC Erato

Posted by Andrea  Published in HTC, Smartphones
HTC Erato

The HTC 2007 roadmap surfaced on a Russian website a few days ago, and SmartPhoneToday appears particularly interested in the clamshell, codenamed Erato. It looks like an update of the HTC StrTrk:

We can speculate, however, that Erato may add a higher resolution camera than the Star Trek’s 1.3 megapixel type; high-speed 3G HTMS/HSPDA cellular data networking (the current model tops out 2.5G EDGE technology; and, just maybe, Microsoft’s next-generation mobile operating system codenamed Crossbow.

This phone is not only fully wireless, it’ll also have an integrated GPS receiver. Too bad it doesn’t look as pretty as the original StrTrk (I’m biased, I have one).
