tomtom3Refurbished TomToms are satnavs which have been returned to TomTom for a variety of reasons, including unsold stock, discontinued models, unwanted items or faulty products. Following repair/restoration and rigorous testing these satnavs re-enter the market to be sold as ‘refurbished items’.

One of the leading benefits of purchasing TomTom refurbs is obviously cost. You can make massive savings whilst still buying top quality products. January is famously the month to tighten reins on spending after Christmas splurges – and where refurb is an attractive option – savings without compromising the quality of your unit.

There are also environmental benefits to buying refurb. Imagine what would happen to unwanted TomToms if they weren’t refurbished and sold again? Where would they go and what effect would this have on the environment?

There’s a whole range of refurbished TomToms now available at TotalPDA, TomTom’s only official UK reseller of manufacturer refurbished satnavs. The models include:

Prices start as low as £59.99 (ex VAT) for the TomTom ONE V3 (UK maps). Making this deal even sweeter is the free protective carry case bundled in with various TomTom refurbs worth £14.99.

All refurbished TomTom models include current maps, along with a 12 month TomTom warranty; the same as you would get with a brand new TomTom. These satnavs are limited in supply – so what are you waiting for? Grab your TomTom today.

Using the new hotel booking service through their TomTom device, TomTom drivers can avoid the stress of finding that hotels are closed or full for the night in their chosen destination. TomTom drivers also benefit from the great deals that hotels provide through Expedia. Drivers can access a list of nearby hotels in Europe and then check availability, compare costs and research facilities. TomTom’s HD Traffic service gets even better

Posted on09. Dec, 2009 by Derek.

tomtom-hd-trafficTomTom’s latest version of HD Traffic, its acclaimed real-time traffic information service, has just been released. HD Traffic 3.0 now has improved road coverage and accuracy, which means motorists always know the smartest route to take – even on secondary roads.

The number of jams HD Traffic 3.0 detects on secondary roads throughout Europe has improved significantly. For instance, coverage has leapt by 75% in France and by 40% in both the Netherlands and the UK. In Switzerland drivers will notice a 200% increase in coverage on secondary roads.

The accuracy of traffic information – the exact point and time that a jam starts and ends – on secondary roads has also improved. In the Netherlands, drivers will experience an improvement of 25%. In France and Switzerland, accuracy has increased by 35% and 20%. Accuracy of HD Traffic on the main roads in France has improved by 30%.

“HD Traffic is far better than any other traffic information available” said Simon Sugar, CEO, Amscreen. “And now Tom-Tom users have managed to make it even better, we look forward to passing on this information to the 7 million BP motorists each week who view Tom-Tom’s HD traffic information on our screens and hopefully to millions more across our growing Amscreen network in 2010.”

The improvements of HD Traffic 3.0 are due to a constantly growing community of enthusiastic users, and its self-improving functionality.

“The beauty of HD Traffic is that it is a dynamic information service using multiple sources that are always updating the core traffic information”, says Corinne Vigreux, Managing Director of TomTom. “This means that the more people travelling on the roads, the better the traffic information becomes.” This new improved service is now available to all drivers subscribing to TomTom’s LIVE Services. The improvements will also be good news for third parties that use HD Traffic as their only source of traffic information, like Radio 538, and online Dutch news portal, Startpagina.nl.
